Cor's Tour du Canada Adventure 2005
July 6 - Day 12
Field

Riding from Golden to Field along the #1. Very little downhill today as we climbed in elevation to prepare for the Kicking Horse Pass tomorrow. I was pretty much able to stay between the showers most of the day but was riding in the rain for the first hour. Very scenic canyon on the climb out of Golden but the rain kept me from taking my camera out for pictures in this area. Did see one Bighorn Sheep today during this time. Arrived in Field just as another storm was getting ready to set loose so had a snack in a convenience store and spent some time at the info center until it passed. Cooking duty tonight was in the rain. Even though we had a shelter, the water ran under our feet and made a nice muddy mess. There was also a boil water advisory in effect so this made cooking and preparing just that little more difficult. We had finished cleaning when the hardest down pour started and the hail came down with it. Everyone was in the picnic shelter and there were 5 laptops hooked up the the power bar (not mine) as people watched music dvd's and updated their journals. The tent stayed dry through all this but mud had splattered up the inside underneath the fly and on to the tent.
Scenic shots along the route.
Ken and Michel having a lunch stop with Evelyn and Daphne, the two TDC vets that have been riding with us and will be leaving the group in Calgary.
Tess passing me on the #1.
