Cor's Tour du Canada Adventure 2005
June 28 - Day 4
Spence's Bridge
Previous Day - - Back to Daily Log - - Next Day
Ride to Spences Bridge along the Fraser Canyon and Thompson River. Lots of hills on this ride as can be seen in the elevation gain on the log sheet. I had planned well for this day, eating every 20 kms or more whether I felt hungry or not and drinking lots. I arrived at camp in good shape and feeling great.
Map of route to Spence's Bridge.
I did not push at all today, just riding at my own pace and going my slow 8km/hr up the hills. This allowed me to finish my ride in comfort and enjoy the views while I was at it. There were 7 tunnels on todays schedule. I did dismount and walk my bike through the 600 meter long China Bar tunnel just after Hell's Gate (second picture below) because it had a very narrow side walk.

Hells Gate. I decided to save the $14 fee and spend it on food instead. Today's treat was a Root Beer milkshake, expensive but really good.
There were lots of good climbs today but the longest was a 2.5km, 160m grunt up to JackAss Pass. Going down hill required caution as well due to the gusty crosswinds. This one is me at JackAss Pass.
Rich and Ken reaching the summit.
Bob and Barry enjoying the view and a break at the summit.
View above the Thompson River looking south towards Lytton.
Passed many small waterfalls during the day.
